Initially the Scholarships were awarded to the Public Sector only, but in 1989 the British Ambassador invited local companies to become co-sponsors of the scheme, thus making more funds available. Since then, Scholarships are usually for the full academic year but shorter courses of a minimum of three months will also be considered. The Scheme normally covers tuition fees only.
