Human Rights Network

  The British Council has three decades of experience of international collaboration in governance related development programmes.

The British Council's objective is to provide client governments with information, consultancy, training or international exchanges including various dimensions of British and comparative international government practices with reflections on the variety of perceptions of governance changes and reform.

The British Council in Bangladesh has pooled its experience and resources into the following broad categories of activities commensurate with its objective and within its strategic parameters.

The broad areas are:

  • Capacity building in media
  • Informing public policy formulation and dialogue
  • Supporting the advocacy and lobbying for raising awareness for Members of Parliament and enactment of laws
  • Strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the working of the legal system
  • Spreading public awareness about democracy and human rights
