The British Council - Guided tour

The arts

The innovation, creativity and excellence of the arts in Britain are recognized worldwide. This international reputation is of major importance to the tourist industry in Britain. Overseas, the targeted promotion of the arts provides invaluable support for political and trade relations, and refreshes perceptions of Britain.

Through its specialist staff in London and its network of overseas offices, the Council was involved in mounting more than 2,000 arts events around the world last year. In many countries, trade missions coincided with, or followed hard upon such events, helping create and foster a favourable climate for investment in Britain and the purchase of British goods and services.
