The British Council - Guided tour

Overseas development

Central to the Council's development work is investment in people. The Council provides access to the wide range of development expertise in Britain. Its field network of offices worldwide also enables the Council to build links between development experts in neighbouring countries and regions.

The Council's development work supports British aid policies, funding long-term projects which include a strong commitment to human resource development, skills transfer and strengthening local institutions.

Areas of concentration for the Council include education and health, efficient markets and good government, greater opportunities for women and environmental conservation.
