ERC Resources - Upper Secondary and FE

  The European Resource Centres can provide many publications that are useful for Upper Secondary school and FE college students and teachers. Many of these publications can be supplied free and in group sets. They can also provide maps, CD ROMs and some videos.

The European Resource Centres can supply a classroom guide, Europe Today, that is aimed at students, the general public and teachers, who wish to find out more about what is happening in the European Union today. This publication is useful across the curriculum and deals with many aspects of the European Union's work.       

A number of other free publications are available that deal with general awareness, different policy areas and rights, employment, education and training.

  • Europe in the Round is an educational CD ROM for secondary schools containing information on: people and societies; geography and travel; business and work; study and research; the EU; and 39 countries.

  • Speak Out! on European Citizenship Teachers Guide provides background information on European Citizenship, the EU and has nine topical issues highlighted for discussion. It helps students familiarise themselves with issues they can discuss with fellow European students on the Speak Out! website on: www.citizen.org.uk/speakout.

  • Human Rights Impact provides information on the impact in the UK of the Human Rights Act of 1998 which incorporated the European Convention on Human Rights into UK law.

  • European Websites Directory gives over 350 website addresses for European institutions, agencies and associations, for European policy areas and for information sources.
