Welcome to the Health pages. The British Council Health team is a group of full time, part time and 'Associate' consultants, which provides a source of professional expertise on health-related activity. The ongoing activities of the department include:

  • advising staff at home and overseas on a wide range of population and health matters
  • identifying institutions in the UK and other countries for collaborative links
  • working with partners from within the UK and around the world
  • recruitment, briefing and debriefing of consultants
  • the professional management of training
  • advising on programmes for study tours

In addition, the team also advise on health and population-related training courses in the UK for overseas study fellows who hold British Council administered awards, and assist in the management of seminars and short courses on nursing and healthcare topics.

We consult on higher education links in health care or medical science training and research, evaluate government-sponsored biomedical research proposals, and advise on the British Medical Bulletin, published for the British Council by Oxford University Press (now in its 58th year). More information is available at http://www.bmb.oupjournals.org.

In order to do these things, we maintain contact with a range of statutory, professional and other organisations, including non-governmental organisations, healthcare training and education institutions, and consultancy services in health service management for developing countries.
