What we do

Our work is in three broad areas:

Grant Funded Services

We provide support to our offices overseas where they are carrying out projects to promote knowledge of and co-operation with UK expertise in the health sector. We advise on

  • programmes for study tours to the UK
  • UK experts to travel to our overseas operations for seminars and consultancy
  • our programme of international seminars in health
  • the publishing programme of our journal, the British Medical Bulletin
  • joint research programme proposals
  • the development of project management proposals

We also provide advice to UK individuals and institutions who wish to make overseas links.

The National Advice Centre for Postgraduate Medical Education

This service is provided under contract to the Department of Health to provide advice to overseas doctors who wish to take up training in the National Health Service. The information sheets provided by NACPME can be found elsewhere on these pages.

Training services for doctors and nurses

The health team manages training programmes for overseas doctors and nurses who wish to undertake postgraduate training in the UK.

To maintain these functions our staff are in regular contact with a range of statutory, professional, educational and consultancy organisations. To satisfy our clients of value for money we regularly evaluate the results of training.
