The National Advice Centre for Postgraduate Medical Education (NACPME)

NACPME is an information service for overseas-qualified doctors who wish to train in the United Kingdom, run by the British Council on behalf of the Department of Health. NACPME aims to provide doctors with as much information as they need either before coming to the UK or during their stay here.

NACPME provides information in the following main areas:

  • registration with the General Medical Council (EEA and non-EEA)
  • Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test and Categories of Exemption
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Overseas Doctors Training Scheme (ODTS)
  • specialist training
  • general information on; immigration, employment, postgraduate courses and Royal College examinations.

Please note NACPME cannot obtain posts or attachments for doctors nor can it lobby the GMC or other authories on behalf of doctors.
