Country science profiles
 

Co-funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, the British Council is publishing a series of science profiles which should be of interest to those in industry, commerce and the academic world who would like a deeper understanding of how science and technology are organised in these countries. Profiles are available on the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Malaysia
  • Russia
  • South Africa.

Each profile gives a detailed overview of science and technology in the country, with up-to-date statistics and summaries of existing government policies. The contents include:

  • an overview
  • the state of science and technology
  • current state of research and development
  • science policy
  • government and private support for research and development
  • institutions and programmes, including a description of the education system
  • reserach training and careers
  • international collaboration
  • contact details for the main research intitutions
  • a bibliography.
