The international situation

The British Council's offices in Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Syria and Yemen are closed. This is a temporary measure that we have taken to safeguard the personal security and well-being of our staff and customers. We are keeping the situation under review and will reopen in these countries as soon as it is safe to do so.

All other British Council offices are open, though for the time being in Bahrain, Indonesia (Surabaya), Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia there is no public access to our buildings.

If you are from one of the countries or territories where we are closed and are studying in the UK under arrangements with the British Council, please stay in touch with your Regional Services Officer, who will be able to give you advice and information.

If you are planning to travel or are already travelling outside the United Kingdom under British Council auspices, you should be aware of Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice and stay in touch with your British Council contact who can give you additional guidance.
