  Chevening Award

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship scheme offered for postgraduate study at British universities, for a period of one year. Every year the Chevening Award gives an opportunity to 6 young professionals or particularly able students to further develop themselves. The Award is intended for scholars who will make a significant contribution to Zambia's development and preferably, already have an established track record in their chosen career. It is hoped that scholars return with positive perceptions of the UK and maintain contact with the UK and UK organisations.

The scholarship is advertised in the national press every August-September and selection interviews for short-listed candidates are made in January each year. In-order to be considered applicants must be:

  • under 35 years of age
  • a Zambian citizen and resident in Zambia at the time of application
  • a graduate who has obtained a degree with distinction or merit (or their equivalent) from a recognised university.
